The Department of Basic Sciences was established in order to provide quality education in the areas of mathamatical and physical sciences aprt from literature and arts. The department also promotes research in the fields of mathematics, sciences and languages and economics.The Faculty includes eminent profressors like Dr.S.R.K.Iyengar & Dr.P.Eliah who apart are well known in academic circles.

Dr.Iyengar contribution includes text books like ADVANCED ENGINEERING MATHEMATICS and NUMERICAL METHODS for scientific and engineering computation.

Dr.P.Eliah is the author of several text books and manuals in English teaching practice.

Active research is being carried out in the fields of Digital Image Processing and Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD).

The faculty of Mathematics has been training students on application software like MATHEMATICA & MATLAB. It also runs a forum "ADVANCED ACADEMIC CENTER" and leading resource persons visit the college under this forum.
